American College of Surgeons (ACS) has determined that a successful
Injury Prevention Program requires a dedicated staff member who
provides support to the Trauma Program Director of Trauma Services
in coordinating the trauma education processes for the program
across the continuum of care and in the professional community. The
trauma education and injury prevention coordinator takes a
leadership role in the development, coordination, implementation,
and evaluation of trauma educational programs/projects for staff,
patients, and the community (both professional and public) across
the continuum of trauma care. The trauma education and injury
prevention coordinator provides education that is consistent with
the trauma standard of care Trauma Performance Improvement Plan,
and professional organizational standards. These educational
processes may include: orientation, annual competency assessment,
preceptor orientation/development, required training, ongoing
development and performance improvement. What you will do in this
role: Participate in the injury prevention and outreach of trauma
care systems at all levels. Maintain required documentation to
ensure compliance with hospital, ACS, and state trauma designation
standards. Develop and deploy strategies for communication,
education, and feedback for EMS systems, referring facilities, and
transfer facilities. Partner with department heads on injury
prevention and outreach initiatives. Evaluate the impact of injury
prevention activities. Coordinate community trauma prevention
education programs for targeted populations in the community.
Attend Trauma committee meetings to present information related to
education, injury prevention, and outreach. What qualifications you
will need: Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30
days of employment start date Basic Cardiac Life Support must be
obtained within 30 days of employment start date Emergency Nurse
Pediatric Cour must be obtained within 30 days of employment start
date Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of
employment start date (RN) Registered Nurse in Missouri Minimum of
5 years recent clinical experience in a Level I or II trauma center
in an emergency department, critical care, or other trauma nursing
setting Research Medical Center is a 585 bed hospital. Our hospital
