therapy/infusions experience Description: Seeking a Registered
Nurse specializing in Oncology. The position involves working on a
primary oncology unit that treats various types of cancer.
Responsibilities include administering inpatient chemotherapy
regimens. The nurse will provide post-operative care for uro-gyn
and gyn-onc surgical patients. The unit also functions as a
step-down neuro overflow unit for strokes, head bleeds, and other
neurological needs. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:5. Charge Nurse
experience and teaching hospital experience are preferred.
First-time travelers are accepted. Weekend shifts are required,
with an expectation of 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule.
Floating within the scope of practice may be required to meet
facility needs. The role includes administering IV therapy and
infusions for a range of medications. The nurse will manage various
oncologic emergencies and provide psychosocial care. Pain
management, symptom management, and professional knowledge in
oncology care are essential. Candidates should have experience with
chemotherapy and recognizing abnormal lab values. Familiarity with
tracheostomy care and radiation safety precautions is preferred.
The facility is a level 1 trauma hospital and a teaching
institution. All references must come from the past year and
reflect recent experience. Drug screening results must be cleared
