Responsible for various aspects of running and instructing the
Parks & Recreation Little All Stars Programs, which include
Baseball, Football, Basketball and Soccer.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Ensure fields/courts and equipment are prepared and set up for
practices- inspect fields/courts for safety hazards and make sure
equipment is set up in stations prior to practice start time.
2.Communicate with volunteer coaches and parents to assist the
participants and answer questions when needed. Ensure volunteer
coaches are aware of the lesson plan for the day/session.
3.Manage fields/courts during practices- turn on/off ball field
lights if needed, securing complex buildings after practices if
needed, monitor spectators, maintain records (accident and incident
reports and daily sign in sheet for participants), and secure
equipment in designated storage area.
4.Understand and coach the sessions outlined in the Little All
Stars manual. Create and implement new group/team activities for
the age group to gain a sense of knowledge of the sport while
creating an enjoyable experience. Manage group/team warm up/wrap up
session at start of practice and end of practice.
5.Obey and comply with all City of Blue Springs, Blue Springs
Parks and Recreation, State and Local ordinances and policies
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education and Special License(s)/Certifications - High School
Diploma, GED or vocational training. CPR/AED certification or
ability to obtain with 3 months.
Experience - Must be 18 years of age or older. Previous coaching
skills preferred or experience with children ages 3 to 4 years
SKILLS, COMPETENCIES & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills - Skilled in effective verbal communication and reacting
professionally during emergencies. Ability to work independently
and follow oral and written instructions.
Mental Requirements - Ability to work well with patrons of all
ages. Ability to concentrate and accomplish tasks despite
interruptions and perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.

Physical Requirements - Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk,
and hear frequently; must be able to frequently use hands to
operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or office
machines; must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms;
must be able to occasionally life, move, push, pull, or transport
up to 50 pounds at least 25 feet; must have close vision and the
ability to adjust focus frequently. Most work is performed in
various athletic settings where weather conditions will vary.
Supervisory Responsibility - None.
